Happy 250th Birthday USA!

Mission

The Full Stack Voter - Optimistic Independent Discerning - is a site created to celebrate the 250th birthday of America and with the desire to make something autotelic and algorithm-free.

It's for American citizens – and aspiring America citizens – who want to be dutiful and optimistic about the U.S.A.

It’s for anyone who is intellectually exhausted by hyper-partisanship and ambient crisis.

It’s for anyone curious or concerned about the impact of digital technologies to our public square.

Principles

The content on this site is about the 6 topics in the navigation above and scaffolded by the 5 basic principles below to make sure it meets its mission and remains optimistic, independent and discerning.  They are:

1.      Constitutional rights are also skills

2.     Collaborative dialogue is a nobler pursuit than parallel monologue

3.     The diffusion of commercial digital technology into public service is complicated and worthy to understand

4.   The people grant limited, specific powers to distinct public institutions and citizens - not elephants and donkeys.

5.     Global perspective matters, because most citizens of the world can’t vote like we can, at least not yet...

Call to Action

The premise of this site is that being an American citizen is grand and should be celebrated. But it is also hard work to be a dutiful citizen of the greatest nation in history and commercial technology has a paradoxical effect on those duties — simplifying and complicating at the same time.

If you want to master the skills of democracy in the digital age across the various layers of the democracy ‘stack' then you are ready to be a full stack voter.
